The Winner Is

    We didn't quite reach that 100 mark we were shooting for but you guys did a great job, we appreciate all your entries. Because we had so many people entering next time we do a MP give away we are going to drop the entry counter down a bit so we can give away a 4k card, this time is only the 1600 mp card. This contest has been the single hardest one to pick a winner on, some were funny, some were terrible, some were so touching I wish I could give all of them a card. Some of these really meant a lot, they really showed the spirit of giving and that to me is the most important part about the holidays. It came down to three entries for me, I don't want anyone pissed off about how close they came so I'm only going to post the winner. And the winner is @Bombermerc who wrote this:

    " Best gift ever was a tiny miniature from my then seven year old daughter. The gift itself was okay, but it came with a note where she first called me dad. She was five when I met her and her mom, and we're now a happy family 8 years later."

Hobbit Sighting

    With the Hobbit trailer hitting with The Adventures of Tin Tin, people all over are getting themselves ready for a glorious return to Middle Earth. I haven't seen the trailer yet and unfortunately I will not be seeing Tin Tin any time soon so this picture has to hold me over. Martin Freeman looks amazing as Bilbo Baggins, everything looks crisp, clean, and beautiful (it's a production photo so I know it has to be). I can't decide what I want to see more next year, Dark Knight rises or The Hobbit. Seeing as I have already seen the trailer for TDKR and haven't for The Hobbit I'm sure as soon as I see TH trailer I will be 100% on board with TH. I have seen The Fellowship of the Ring more than any other movie period, I love everything about them and I can't wait. Well I'm rambling so just take a look at the picture.

The Avengers trailer with extra footage and German.

    The trailer for the Avengers hit Germany today and includes some footage that was not in the version we got recently. Give it a watch, hopefully will help out with the wait till May 4th, 2012. Unless you live in Germany then you get the movie on April 26th.

The Dark Knight Rises Trailer

    The official Dark Knight Rises trailer is finally out and I am so pumped for this movie to come out. Anyone that tells you they don't want to see this movie is lying to you, themselves, everybody, its going to be amazing. I haven't seen the prologue yet, I don't do the whole bootleg thing so I will be waiting until I can see it legitimately. The next best thing is this trailer, you finally get to see Bain, you actually get to see a lot. You know what just check it out.

Video game deals for 12/18-12/24

    Well well well... the time has finally come for everyone to get crazy buying all of their last minute gifts. This is what I like to call "fun time". Or we could call it "last minute possibly crappy gift buying time" even though the second one is not true because there is so much good stuff left out there still. Let's see what we have going on. New release for the week: Star Wars: The Old Republic.

Awesome Video

    I try not to take anything from other sites, other than news that is everywhere on the internet that is. But sometimes there is something so awesome on another site I have to put it up, and if you're wondering where a nerd goes for his nerd news my favorite is Topless Robot. They are great, that doesn't mean you need to stop coming here, seriously keep coming here. Well they posted an awesome lightsaber battle today, it is one of the best I have ever seen and that is saying a lot. You have to watch the whole thing, I assure you that you won't be disappointed.

Nintendo 3DS Ambassador GBA games available.

    Without any fanfare or hoopla.... or even an announcement that I could find, the GBA games are finally available to the 3Ds ambassador's via the Nintendo 3DS's eShop. The games you are getting for free are:  F-Zero: Maximum Velocity, Super Mario Advance 3, Legend Of Zelda: The Minish Cap, Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones, Kirby & the Amazing Mirror, Mario Kart: Super Circuit, Mario Vs Donkey Kong, Metroid Fusion, Wario Land 4, and WarioWare, Inc. Not a bad batch at all in my opinion. To download these titles, you do it the same way as you did for the NES games. Go into your download history in the eShop and they will be available to "redownload" there. Coolest thing is that the last system update added the ability to download up to 10 items while the system is in sleep mode. So you can cue them all up and then be on your way. And remember, if Nintendo stays true to their word, these 10 games will not be available for purchase in the eShop. They are only for the people in the ambassador program.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

    First things first, when I first heard about this movie based on the book written by Seth Grahame-Smith, I thought it was going to be another B movie that was straight to video and terrible. Then I saw some production photos and they were great, looked like everything was very high quality. After that I took notice, directed by Timur Berkmambetov who is best known for Wanted which isn't bad at all. The cast isn't a group of A-listers but you have Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Live Free Die Hard, Sky High, Scott Pilgrim), Alan Tudyk (Firefly, Dodgeball, A Knight's Tale), and quite a few other good actors. The movie is an alternate take on history where you guessed it, Lincoln is a Vampire Hunter. The book is written after reading secret diaries of Lincol who were given to the author by Vampire Henry Sturges. The whole reason for me writing this is because today two awesome posters were released showing Lincoln sitting down on a chair during the day, and sitting down in a chair at night. The movie is set to come out June 22nd, 2012 and I'm buying in to this, take a look at the posters and let us know what you think.

New Spider-Man Stuff

    There is a new website up for the new Amazing Spider-Man movie and I hate to be the guy that says this but it is amazing. There is an extended trailer on there, I had seen the first person view but I had not seen the one that they have on the site. It also gives us our first real insight on what this movie is going to be about. The biggest difference I have seen so far is the involvement of Peter Parker's parents, they haven't ever been in the spotlight much and in this movie they seem to be a big part. Here is a quote from the new site:

"Ever since Peter’s parents disappeared 13 years ago, he has struggled to find his purpose in life. Now, on the brink of unlocking the mystery about what happened to them, he must face the ultimate challenge — one that has been created within the laboratories of Oscorp."

    It looks like this is going to be a a completely different adventure and that's a good thing, why would we want to see the exact same thing the movie studio brought us last time? I for one am getting extremely excited, here is the official synopsis for the movie:

"Like most teenagers his age, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. In his journey to put the pieces of his past together he uncovers a secret that his father held… a secret that will ultimately shape his destiny as Spider-Man. This is the first in a series of movies that tells a different side of the Peter Parker story. On July 3rd, 2012, the untold story begins."
