Before Marvel movies were the power house they are now they sold the movie rights for their characters to other companies so the movies would be made. Marvel was going through bankruptcy at the time and couldn't afford to make the movies in house. Now Marvel is owned by Disney and have the third highest grossing movie in the amazing Avengers. You may be wondering why Spider-Man wasn't swinging around helping the Avengers save New York, well thats because Sony Pictures owns the right to Spider-Man which makes it unlikely he will ever team up with Captain America and company. Now if a movie isn't in development for a certain amount of time the rights to the movies revert back to Marvel, which brings us to Daredevil. Fox has been trying to put a Daredevil movie in to production for quite some time. Marvel/Disney offered Fox a deal, keep the Daredevil rights and we get Galactus back. With Fox owning the rights to the Fantastic Four they couldn't just give up one of the biggest villains in their wheelhouse, literally. So Daredevil is coming home, in October the movie rights will once again be Marvels. Now this isn't the first character, Blade and the Punisher have also come back to where they belong. Who knows what will happen now, all I know is I'm crossing my fingers that Matt Murdock shows up when the Avengers need a little help next time.
